Born in the rural foothills of Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, Lisa Jordan grew up in the vibrant art scene of Louisville, Kentucky. From a young age she was deeply taken both with the quiet beauty of nature and the bustle of city life; she found herself smitten by the intersection of both these loves in Seattle the moment she glimpsed the Olympic Mountains over the Sound in 2006. Though she voraciously studied charcoal and sketching as a child, her career in technology carried her away from creative pursuits until late 2021 when she tried watercolor painting for the first time. She was utterly transported by the magic and serenity of watercolors, so much so that she departed her 18-year career in technology to pursue art full time.
Lisa now focuses her energy on creating art, teaching new artists how to follow their curiosity, and supporting community mural projects around Seattle. Her work explores the overlap of the natural world with urban life, the junction of anxiety with serenity, and the juxtaposition of deep detail with whimsical simplification. Lisa’s art roams from the intimacy of a shared cocktail, across city skylines against brilliant sunsets, to the sly local crows atop tangles of power lines. Presence, attentive observation, and gratitude are core pillars of Lisa’s creative practice.
