Stoking the energy of my imagination to keep a consistent creative flow means following my curiosity and giving my “art brain” time to decompress. One of my favorite ways to do this is by spending time with beloved books or games; inevitably my love for these things means that beautiful art inspired by these worlds springs into existence. How can it be possible to love a game so much, and also find a game so difficult and punishing? This game duo taught me a lot about patience, and remain two of the most beautiful hand-drawn metroidvanias I’ve ever played.
