While wandering Chicago looking for trouble of the cocktail-shaped variety, one night I stumbled into Kumiko. The vibe looked perfect and the menu was inspired - and it was only after settling in at the bar that I realized I owned and loved the book penned by Kumiko’s head bartender. The drinks were as amazing as I had hoped, and one spectacular sip was served in this cut crystal glass that I couldn’t take my eyes off of.
This painting took me almost two years to finish, sitting partially complete for over 18 months - there were so many things that I wanted to include: the glass, deep contrasts, the idea of a blue moon, the Asa no Ha pattern of the Kumiko craft that the bar is named for. I finally made it over the hump in August 2025 and I’m so happy to get to share it.
This fine art watercolor print is a limited edition - only 50 will ever be printed at 9×12”, and 150 at 8×10”. This print is made using the Giclée printing technique on thick, high quality Somerset Velvet paper, giving it the look and feel of cotton watercolor paper. These prints are hand signed, titled, and numbered, and ship in with a protective sleeve and backing. You can choose whether to order just the print, or whether to add a black or white mat.
