Stoking the energy of my imagination to keep a consistent creative flow means following my curiosity and giving my “art brain” time to decompress. One of my favorite ways to do this is by spending time with beloved books or games; inevitably my love for these things means that beautiful art inspired by these worlds springs into existence.
“Threads of Strength Unbroken” is an ode to one of my favorite indie metroidvanias, Hollow Knight: Silksong. It is haunting, beautiful, and sometimes punishing, but filled with some of the most lovely, light-handed, and inspirational worldbuilding that I’ve seen from a tiny indie dev team. This scene in Pharloom’s Bellhart explores rainbows & shadow, for a more queer-inclusive take on the game’s characters.
